P.E.P.O.S.A.: a speculative performance platform & eight ambulant systems  is a an artistic residency to be heldin Hidrante from September to October of 2020 and is conceptualized as a collaborative platform for historicalresearch, performance experimentation and conceptual speculation. This art-based research project investigates the improvisational aesthetics of three generations of Puerto Rican experimental dancers and performers using a living workshop format for inviting visitors to witness my creative work and academic research in progress as it unfolds in front of an audience. A series of public events will take place inside and outside the gallery space including public interviews, artistic workshops, studio visits, and a series of dance improvisation jam sessions I will be conducting with the artists under study.  The audience will also have the opportunity to be part of different round tables and public conversations with different artists and collectives and to participate in some of the free and open-to-the-public dance improvisation jams and workshops. In approaching the act of exhibition-making as performance (or as a constant process of collective adaptation and reconstitution), a series of four performances will also be scheduled for the audience to join me in the gallery and activate performance scores and objects as well as to intervene, comment, and relocate in the space historical documents and archival materials.
